scanning and imaging services

I use the finest equipment, such as the Heidelberg Nexscan 4200, the Heidelberg Primescan D7100 drum scanner, and the Hasselblad/Imacon 343 for film and paper artwork scanning. With meticulous attention to detail, all scans are personally handled by myself and tailored to meet my client's specific size and image grading requirements. Each scan undergoes a thorough manual spotting process to ensure optimal quality, and the final output is delivered as a 16-bit Adobe 98 RGB TIFF.

I use Adobe Photoshop for colour correction and image grading, enabling me to provide options ranging from expertly graded final output for print to spotted, level-graded raw scans. Heidelberg Linoscan, Heidelberg Newcolor 7000 and Hasselblad Flex colour are used for negative and transparency scanning.

As a trade-qualified graphic reproducer, I understand the importance of accurate colour reproduction. Repro scans from photographs and paper works are scanned to QP card LAB colour coordinates to ensure the correct colour is captured at the scanning and output stages of production. Heidelberg Linoscan and Heidelberg Newcolor 7000 software are used for reflection scanning.

All digital file formats are processed in Adobe Camera Raw or when requested, original equipment manufacturer software. I treat raw file development with the same approach as processing film, the software is there to extract the best potential from the raw file, not to enhance or manipulate it. A better result is achieved in post processing with Adobe PS, as personally, I like to keep as much bit depth and tonal quality in the exported tiff from raw file processing as is possible with the quality of the provided raw camera formats. The final processed output is 16-bit Adobe 98 RGB tiff files. Colour conversion for CMYK production can be performed with specific requested printer CMYK profiles.

digital image processing & retouching

I also offer a photographic reproduction service for artworks such as museum and gallery collections and copy work for artist works on canvas and paper that are not suitable or are too large to be scanned. As a trained studio photographer and graphic reproducer, I can photograph and accurately reproduce artworks for catalogues or personal reference for sold artworks.

3D objects and large format artworks

Tuition for digital image processing in Adobe Lightroom, Camera Raw, or OEM camera processing software is available online via screen sharing or in person at my studio. Monitor calibration and colour management integration services are also available.

This service is for the preservation of single negatives, transparencies, or artworks on paper. The film is scanned at the highest optical resolution on either a drum scanner or a mirrorless inline camera flatbed. The price includes a raw, spotted, and graded master scan as well as an imaged master print variation at the requested output sizes. The files are then burned at x2 burn speed to a gold archival CD or DVD. Two copies of the DVD or CD media are included in the scan price, and a third backup copy is kept in controlled storage in my studio. This is a service that guarantees the digital preservation of a photographer's most important images and can ensure that the film is preserved on archival media before colour deterioration or accidental environmental influences can affect the original.
